Application of the heating film
Compared to other electric heating systems, the energy from the heating film is converted into infrared rays without energy waste. It consists of two copper strips that act as electrical conductors. Thanks to its parallel structure, our heating film allows you to heat your entire home efficiently and uniformly. Our heating film not only provides comfortable warmth but also prevents germ or mold growth. The infrared radiation has a positive effect on your health. When the build-up layers of your floor are optimal, you can enjoy your new underfloor heating.
The heating film can be installed directly as underfloor heating, wall heating, and ceiling heating.
Underfloor heating and Rc-value
When choosing underfloor heating, the Rc-value plays an important role.
The Rc-value stands for the thermal resistance of a construction.
R= Resistance
c= Construction
By construction, we mean the floor, roof, or wall. The higher the thermal resistance, the better the construction is insulated. Therefore, the goal is to achieve a high Rc-value.
Do you not have insulation under your base floor? Then ensure that your base floor is insulated on the underside, for example, in the crawl space.
Is this not possible because you do not have a crawl space? Then choose extra insulation on your base floor. XPS 20 mm is a rigid foam that is pressure-resistant (300 kPa). Please note that your floor will be raised by an additional 20 mm.
Choosing a suitable underlay
The underlay beneath the heating film must have a high thermal resistance (R). It is important that the underlay acts as a good insulating layer. Preference is given to an underlay with a high insulation value and aluminum foil on one side that reflects infrared rays.
Heat block is a perfect underlay suitable for infrared underfloor heating. For click PVC, heat block is not used, but redupax 9 mm is.)

A suitable underlay for click PVC
Click PVC floors place high demands on the pressure resistance of the underlay. Solid click PVC is very fragile at the tongue and groove joint. In practice, the click edges can sometimes tear due to an underlay that is too soft.
An underlay suitable for click PVC must be very pressure-resistant. This is expressed in kPa.
Redupax 9 mm (386 kPa) is suitable for click PVC floors. It can also be used for laminate or other floating floors.
Redupax does not have a reflective layer. Due to its high insulation value, this is not necessary for this underlay.
Choosing a suitable floor
The floor comes above the heating film. The floor should have a low thermal resistance (R). This allows the heat to easily pass through the finished floor into your living space. You will achieve optimal results with this technique. The "click PVC" floor has the lowest thermal resistance in the list. Adhesive PVC, laminate, parquet, and vinyl are also very suitable for this system. This value depends on the thickness of the plank and the composition of the material. Carpet has a relatively high thermal resistance, which means it retains heat.
Because the heating film is positioned above the insulated underlay, it offers higher efficiency than the well-known underfloor heating systems milled into concrete floors. This common type of underfloor heating is located at the bottom of the insulating underlay, which is disadvantageous unless tiles are used. Our carbon heating film is not suitable for tiles due to the gluing of the tiles to the film.
Laminate, parquet or click PVC:
The heating film is the perfect solution for economical heating under laminate, parquet, and click PVC floors. It offers all the benefits of underfloor heating. Only suitable for dry areas. It is easy and quick to install.
Laminate or parquet:
The heating film can also be installed under laminate or parquet (according to the manufacturer's recommendation)
Always check with your flooring supplier whether your laminate or parquet is suitable for underfloor heating and what the maximum temperature may be!

Click PVC:
Do not choose solid click PVC floors. The tongue and groove joints are very fragile.
Through a developed technique, more and more click PVC floors are equipped with a sturdy layer structure of the plank. The tearing of the tongue and groove joint is a thing of the past.
The following click PVC floors are suitable and very strong:
Rigid click PVC (WPC or SPC)
Click PVC HDF-carrier
Always check with your flooring supplier whether your click PVC is suitable for underfloor heating and what the maximum temperature may be!

Adhesive PVC, carpet or vinyl:
The heating film can also be installed under adhesive PVC flooring, carpet or vinyl (according to the manufacturer's recommendation) using the additional underlays (2) to give the system the necessary stability.
For carpet, it is essential that you choose a type suitable for underfloor heating without a foam backing.
Always check with your flooring supplier whether your adhesive PVC flooring, carpet or vinyl is suitable for underfloor heating and what the maximum temperature may be!

Ceramic tiles, natural stone and quarry tiles:
Not suitable!
Ceiling and wall:
Another ideal application for heating films is in ceiling or wall constructions, particularly behind plasterboard. This option is especially useful for attic conversions, but is also widely used in offices, shops, daycare centers, or in rooms equipped with heavy and robust furniture or thick carpets where the use of underfloor heating may be a problem.

1. Current ceiling or wall structure
2. Thermal insulation (glass or rock wool)
3. Metal stud or wooden battens
4. Heating film
5. Vapor-retardant PE foil 0.1 mm
6. Plasterboard
